28-Year-Old Got Fired Then Built A $500K-A-Month Business While Traveling The World

John Crestani was sitting on a beach in Thailand, poor and lost in his life when he opened a book that helped transform him from a job drifter to a successful internet entrepreneur.

It was 2009 and Crestani, then 21, had fled to Thailand after dropping out of college. He was bumming around the country on a small loan from his family and trying to “find” himself. To that end, he brought along spiritual works like The Bible and the Bhagavad Gita (Hindu scripture).

(SPECIAL V.I.P Webinar Invite Below)

But his saving grace turned out to be a business book: The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, the now-classic manual for breaking free of the nine-to-five by building an online business.

Ferriss’s key tenet in the book is to stop trading time for money and build businesses that can, eventually, operate almost entirely on their own after you set them up: passive income.

“I was at a point in my life where I had very little direction, didn’t know where I was going, and had this void,” says Crestani. “I thought ‘This sounds freaking awesome and I want to do it.’”

And he did. Crestani used his own hustle and Ferriss’s tips to build an affiliate marketing network that currently generates $250,000 to $500,000 per month, enables him to travel the world, and scales on-demand.While plenty of people aspire to join other followers of Tim Ferriss’s lifestyle design, Crestani is its high prophet. But he didn’t get there overnight.

Years of Failure Before 4 Hours of Work

It took Crestani years of false starts and experimentation before he finally hit upon a winning, profitable business.

His first shot at entrepreneurship was selling products on eBay. That venture brought him $1,000 to $2,000 per month, and a call from PayPal’s security team. There was a problem with the business model: Crestani was selling products PayPal didn’t approve of. His PayPal account was shut down and that business shuttered.

So he re-enrolled in school and attempted to strike it rich catering to the needs of his fellow students. Exposed to computers before he reached double digits, Crestani used his technical know-how to acquire the test answers to every online course for every major from his university—and he used those answers just as you might expect.

“I had all the answers, and sold that knowledge,” he explains. “It was a weird feeling. I never realized a PDF file could be so valuable. It was my first experience of trading knowledge for money,” says Crestani.

The result was his first $1,000 day. But the celebration (and the cash flow) didn’t last. Crestani was suspended when the school suspected he acquired the test answers through illicit means.

Despite the failures, Crestani never lost sight of the ultimate goal. “The 4-Hour Workweek kept hustle on my mind. It planted the seed, the idea that you don’t need to trade time for money.”

Ironically, he was just around the corner from the success the book preaches. All it would take was Crestani getting fired from a nine-to-five job.

“Finding Your Purpose” Isn’t Enough to Succeed

With all the trending celebrity commencement speeches for the graduating classes of 2017, we hope you didn’t miss Mark Zuckerberg’s recent address to the Harvard graduates. If you haven’t heard it, or need a refresher, here’s your chance to catch up on latest advice from Facebook’s remarkable founder and CEO.

Right up front, Zuckerberg says that he’s not there to give a normal commencement speech about finding your purpose, because, as he says, “Finding your purpose isn’t enough.” Yes, it is a good pursuit, but in Zuckerberg’s eyes, finding your purpose means next to nothing if you don’t also help others find theirs.

What is Purpose?

Zuckerberg defines purpose as, “that sense that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves, that we are needed, that we have something better ahead to work for.”

As entrepreneurs, searching for that purpose feels like a natural instinct. We want to make an impact on the world, we want to support our families, we want to live a life we are proud of and we want to love what we do. But it requires that we start looking beyond ourselves and give others the chance to embrace a similar sense of purpose we find.

When Facebook was still a relatively new company, it suffered from a lack of purpose on all fronts. When other companies came around wanting to buy Facebook, almost everyone wanted to sell. Except Zuckerberg. He knew that they were on the cusp of changing how we experience the world. But hardly anyone around him saw or wanted that higher purpose.

Of this experience, Zuckerberg says, “That was my hardest time leading Facebook. I believed in what we were, but I felt alone. And worse,” he says, “it was my fault.”

He learned that forming a greater sense of purpose starts with one person at first, but then spreads to those around you. Since this troubling time at Facebook, Zuckerberg’s team changed drastically. He feels that “we can all keep moving forward together,” now that they are guided by a common vision.

On your own, your purpose will only get you so far. But when that motivation extends its initial reach, you can be unstoppable. The question then is how can you make a space where everyone has purpose?

Work Together on Bigger, more Meaningful Projects

The first way to create these purposeful environments, Zuckerberg explains, is to take on a big project that is meaningful. Even when your “defining work” starts small, it can bring together millions of people if it is guided by a worthy purpose (one you share openly).

As an entrepreneur, understanding this is crucial to your success. You won’t sell anything unless you get others to see why your product or service is valuable. You need to show them its purpose.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to turn a small project into one that matters. No one knows exactly what they are doing when they begin. What if Zuckerberg had waited to start Facebook until he knew every in and out of running a social media channel? In his words, Zuckerberg says, “I never would have started Facebook.”

You have opportunities before you to make a huge difference. When you find a purpose worth fighting for, act now before the chance walks away from you forever.

IDEAS DON’T COME OUT FULLY FORMED. THEY ONLY BECOME CLEAR AS YOU WORK ON THEM. YOU JUST HAVE TO GET STARTED. – MARK ZUCKERBERG

Make it Possible for Everyone to Pursue their Purpose

The next way to create more purpose for others is to give them the freedom to do so. Not everyone has the opportunities Zuckerberg or other successful entrepreneurs do. If they don’t have “the freedom to fail,” as Zuckerberg says, they won’t emerge as a great success.

Poverty, lack of education, nationality and other factors too often halt a person on their path towards purpose. Who within your scope can you help to find meaning and hope to keep trying?

Zuckerberg shares an experiences when he taught middle schoolers from the Boys and Girls Club. At first, his volunteer teaching was more of a pressure than a blessing. After all, the young CEO was trying to run one of the fastest-growing companies. He didn’t have much time to teach kids.

But those kids made a huge impact on Zuckerberg’s life, and he on them. Even after the classes ended, Zuckerberg continued his relationship with each of kids, inviting them over for dinner every month for five years. Each one of them now is heading off to college, the first ones in their family to do so.

We may not feel like we have the time to help someone else, but we need to make that time. Zuckerberg says, “Let’s give everyone the freedom to pursue their purpose–not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because when more people can turn their dreams into something great, we’re all better for it.”

Build Stronger Worldwide Communities

Zuckerberg’s last suggestion is to build community. Like was mentioned earlier, alone we only have so much strength. But as a connected whole, we have much more power, “to achieve things we couldn’t on our own.”

When you are part of a community, whether that be a business team, family, school, church, or wherever you fit in, you start seeing beyond yourself. You start seeing the bigger picture. That picture goes beyond profits or sales or creating a name for yourself. It’s the key to making a real difference.

Building global communities that change the world start on a local level, Zuckerberg says. Any change starts small, but it starts with you. Look beyond yourself to see where you can build a community, united under one goal. Bring them in under your purpose, that will permeate until it’s theirs as well.

ANYONE TAKING INITIATIVE WILL GET CRITICIZED FOR MOVING TOO FAST, BECAUSE THERE’S ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO SLOW YOU DOWN. – MARK ZUCKERBERG

By following these steps, Zuckerberg hopes that we will create a world with a stronger entrepreneurial culture. Such a culture, urges people to take more chances, to make bigger changes. Zuckerberg says, “We’re all entrepreneurial…Our culture of entrepreneurship is how we create so much progress.”

This culture starts with you and your purpose. But it can’t end there. Let others into your vision and your dreams, and let’s start making a difference.

Common Millionaire Traits you Need to Develop

What are the millionaire traits that separate the successful from the not-so-successful? Are millionaires just lucky and hit the right break every time or is there something more?

Of course there’s something more. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this article, would you? Although successful individuals have not made their money in the same way, they all share certain “millionaire traits.” These millionaire traits are what drive individuals toward success.

If you have struggled with gaining wealth in the past, check out this list of 5 common millionaire traits and see if you can develop any of them. Doing so will put you on the right path to future financial wealth.

Creativity

If you want to be successful, you have to have a creative mindset. No one makes money by doing the same things that someone else already did. You have to put a creative spin on it. As inc.com puts it, “new money doesn’t come from old ideas.”

Don’t use the old “but I’m not creative” excuse, because you probably are and just don’t know it. Are you good at solving problems? That’s a form of creativity. Are you good at understanding consumers? That’s another form of creativity. Being creative is more than just being able to paint a pretty picture but rather, it is a way of seeing things in a new light.

If you’re still unsure about your creativity, you can find exercises online that will help you improve your creativity.

Risk Takers

Being a risk taker is one of the most important millionaire traits there is. You have to be willing to put something out there if you want to get anything in return. If you want to make a business grow, then you sacrifice the time, money, and resources to do so.

Every millionaire had to take a risk at some point in order to be successful. The chance of success just being handed to you is so small that it’s not worth waiting for. You have to be willing to take that risk if you ever want to reach success.

Think Big

Don’t limit yourself in your success. Think big. Be willing to overcome anything that stands in your way. Many millionaires do just that. They aren’t afraid to dream big and to see all the possibilities that could be.

Start with a big idea and then set small goals to reach that ultimate goal. Never forget where you are heading. It‘s easy to get stuck on completing one smaller goal but make sure to always remember the big picture. Keeping your eye on that prize will keep you moving towards your success.

Act Fast

Another millionaire trait that you need to develop is to act fast. Can you imagine what would have happened if Mark Zuckerberg waited and developed Facebook slowly? Someone else probably would have beaten him to the punch. As it is, he developed it quickly and it exploded into one of the most used social media channels of the day. He understood the importance of acting fast.

If you want to be successful, then you need to learn to act fast too. Don’t make foolhardy decisions, but if you have a solid idea, then what are waiting for? Go for it. Don’t wait until someone has stolen your idea out from under you. Act on it today.

Follow Your Passion

The last in our list of millionaire traits, though certainly not least, is that millionaires follow their passions. Many develop businesses from hobbies, activities, or ideas they love and are inspired by. When you care about something so much, it is easy to become invested in it. This investment drives you to try harder and push more until you reach the success that you want. What are you inspired by or what do you love to do? See if you can turn any of those ideas into a successful career.

Even though they are called “millionaire traits,” they aren’t limited to only millionaires. If you want to be successful, then start developing these traits now. Be more creative, take a risk, think big, act fast, and follow your passion. Before you know it, these traits will launch you to your financial success.

What other “millionaire traits” do you think are important in finding success? Let us know in the comments below.

REASONS WHY YOU ARE WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.

Why You Are Where You Want To be

Reason 1 – You procrastinate

Actions speak louder than words, the longer you leave something as just a thought someone else out there is taking action and achieving YOUR dreams, only problem with that is, you will never feel what it’s like to achieve success because someone came along and pulled the rug from underneath feet before you took action.

Reason 2 – You forget that you are mortal

No one lives forever, time is of the essence and every minute that passes you by is another chance gone to make your dreams come true.

Reason 3 – You listen to others stupid advice

“That’s too hard”, “that won’t work”, “you’re too young”, “you’re too old”. All of that advice is bull crap. If everyone listened to the negative advice of others, no one and no thing would really progress in this world.

Reason 4 – You are in a bad place

You need to position yourself in an environment where you can be stress free, creative and surrounded by positive people. Your environment is very important, it can influence the way you think, feel and see things.

Reason 5 – You dont have a strong enough belief

You need to believe in your dream. It has to be as real as you can make it. If you believe it, you can conceive it and achieve it. The mind and body is an incredible machine, why waste it on the easy and average things in life.

Reason 6 – Your motivation is not compelling enough

Why do you want to be successful? Paint a vivid picture in your head of why you deserve to be successful, why you? How are things going to look once you achieve your dreams? This picture needs to be so motivating that it will inspire you to do anything to reach your dreams.

Reason 7 – Your associations are wrong!

The great motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

As humans we learn through repetitious info and the influence of others. We unconsciously learn a lot of things from one another and are affected by our closest of friends and family members. This been said, make sure whoever is in your circle is of good benefit towards your growth, whether it be financially, spiritually, physically or mentally. Don’t be afraid to cut off those who will only drag you down.

Reason 8 – You haven’t learned how much regret can really be a bummer!

You never want to be the one who said “I wish I did this” or “I wish I did that”. The one emotion you don’t ever want in life is regret.

NOW has never been a better time to work towards your success.

Reason 9 – You are a part time player

You only work towards your goals when it is really convenient for you, or when you have nothing else to do. You look forward to your weekends so you can go out and party instead of using some of that time to work towards your dreams. Balance is good (don’t get me wrong), because you SHOULD take a break from time to time, but if you live for the weekend, every week, then your plan to be successful is most definitely broken.

Reason 10 – You have not set any reminders

Everyone needs a reminder or a wake up call.

Set goals, an inspirational wallpaper on your phone, revise a collection of top quotes, tell your partner or best friend about your dream and make it a daily ritual to remind yourself of what you are truly capable of and what you are working towards.

Reason 11 – You think you have arrived already

You cannot afford to settle and stay complacent if you want to achieve success, there is always room to grow, there is ALWAYS more good that we can do in this world.

Keep moving, keep winning.

Reason 12 – You are not persistent enough

You hit a bump and you gave up. It’s just a hurdle, so pick yourself up and TRY AGAIN!

Studies show that the most successful people in life are passionate and overly persistent in reaching their goals and dreams. As this picture below would suggest, you could be inches away from success, Never Give Up:

Reason 13 – You forgot to be happy

What is all the fame and fortune worth if you are not happy? See, we grow up believing success leads to happiness, when in actual fact our brains work in exactly the opposite order.

Everyone’s view of what success means to them will be different, but at the end of the day if you are not happy with your achievements, the people around you or the journey itself then you should re-evaluate the direction you are headed in and adjust your plan accordingly.

Your journey may be a while on the road to success, so why not enjoy the view along the way.

Your Friend Robert Gafeney

Is financial freedom important to you?

What does financial freedom mean to you?

Does it mean freedom from having to work, yet still being able to enjoy life without concern over money? Does it mean having your life’s necessities covered, where you’re not worried about car or house payments anymore? Having more time to do the things you really want to do?maxwell-quote-for-blog

Many people become so overwhelmed by their idea of what it takes to reach their financial dreams that it prevents them from taking the necessary actions to achieve their goals. Others have more than enough money but rarely experience wealth—a place where they feel abundant, truly alive, and grateful; where they are no longer concerned about anything except enjoying life to its fullest and sharing their wealth to benefit others. They have money and resources, but they don’t actually feel wealthy. The key to experiencing financial freedom is to first understand that no amount of money will ever make you wealthy.

The secret to wealth is gratitude.

When you realize that you already have the resources you need to bring your vision of financial freedom into reality, you look at the world differently, you make different decisions, and you do the kinds of things that actually put you on the path toward the wealth you desire, without fear or doubt that you’ll reach your goals.

In order to attain the freedom you want, understand that creating wealth is more than just crunching numbers, saving a certain amount of money, investing, or making sound financial choices. Eighty percent of success in any endeavor, including financial success, is psychology, and 20 percent is mechanics. Once you cultivate a mindset that gives you the ability to appreciate life despite obstacles and challenges, then you can implement the formulas and strategies necessary to build your Money Machine, a way for you to create income for the rest of your life without having to work. Then you will have the freedom to do the things that matter to you most.

What you want to get out of these exercises is not just more money, but greater freedom, a greater sense of wealth, and a greater feeling of abundance: the ability to do what you want, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, at the level of richness you truly desire. Financial freedom is not just about finances. It’s about creating and sustaining joy, happiness, and that feeling of being truly alive, living that extraordinary life that we all want and deserve.

What Does Wealth Mean to You?

Wealth means different things to different people at different stages of life. It’s unique for every person. For a kid in high school, wealth may mean having a car and enough money to go on a nice date. In the latter stages of life, wealth can mean living in your dream house, the ability to care for children, or traveling the world.

Regardless of the level of wealth you want, you won’t get there until you actually know what wealth means to you. If you get caught up in somebody else’s view of what wealth means, even if you reach that ambition, you could end up working every day of your life only to find out that you’re not actually enjoying your life, all to pursue some idea of happiness in the future that you may not even be sure about.

The Psychology of Wealth

Wealth is first and foremost a mindset, the psychology that gets you to where you want to be without being distracted by fear, obstacles, or any of life’s challenges. To get to that place of true financial freedom, we need to keep in mind one of life’s core lessons: you never get beyond scarcity—you have to start beyond it. You have to redirect your focus away from what’s missing and onto all the reasons you can feel wealthy now. When you do this, you open yourself to attracting the material wealth you desire.

DARE TO DREAM DONTE’S STORY | ASPIRE

Donte’s Story |Facebook|Twitter

Aspire Dare To Dream

For many years Donte had harbored a secret dream to start his own online business, but every time he mentioned his idea to his friends, they would immediately highlight all the pitfalls of being a business owner they were just filled with negativity, and advise him to stick with his 9-5 day job because her would only waste a lot of time and fail.

Dealing with negativity| Dare To Dream

One night as Donte was heading home on the train after work, Donte was reading an article in a business magazine that said that one of the most important aspects of achieving your goals in life, to obtain your deepest dreams was to increase the amount of time you spend with positive people, and decrease the amount of time you spend with negative people.

The only problem with this advice for Donte was that the negativity he was dealing with was coming from some of his friends and family. It wasn’t as though he could just suddenly create a whole new circle of family and friends.

As Donte thought about his situation more and more, everyday he came up with a plan a goal to reduce the negativity that was coming from those around him, and increase the level of positive energy in his life. Donte new that this was going to be a challenge however Donte was determined. He told himself honestly what choice do I have if I wan’t to achieve my Goals to make my dreams and desires reality?

here’s what he did…

Dare To Dream Step 1:

First, Donte went into his Facebook News Feed and took a good hard look at what people were sharing. A few of his friends seemed to have a very negative view of the world and on a regular basis complained about the day-to-day issues they were dealing with

While Donte did enjoy catching up with these friends every now and again, he realized he didn’t need to share their thoughts on a daily basis.

Rather than offending people by ‘unfriending’ them, Donte discovered that it was very easy to hide people’s comments so they wouldn’t always appear in his news feed.

Dare To Dream Step 2:

Next Donte asked himself the question,

“If I could get business advice from anyone in the world,
who would I select to be my advisers?”

In answer to this question, Donte wrote down a list of the people he most admired in the world of Online business. This included a number of successful Online Business owners, and several of his favourite authors.

Dare To Dream Step 3: Facebook|Twitter

Donte then jumped onto Facebook.com and Twitter.com and searched for each of the people on his list. To his surprise he discovered that many of them had a Facebook page and a Twitter Feed he thought this is amazing.

Donte clicked the ‘Like’ button on each of their Facebook pages and followed them on Twitter. he also discovered that in Twitter he could group people together into a ‘List’ so he created a new List which he called “How To Succeed Group”

Over time Donte monitored the input from the members of his new Virtual How To Succeed Group. If he didn’t get a lot of value from someone’s feed he ‘unliked’ their Facebook page and ‘unfollowed’ them on Twitter. he also ‘auditioned’ new people to join his How To Succeed Group whenever he came across them.

In this way Donte gradually established a group of ‘virtual mentors’ whose ideas and comments made a big impact on the way he looked at the world.

By reducing the input of some of the more negative people in his life, and setting up his new Virtual How To Succeed Group, Donte’s Facebook News Feed and Twitter Feed took on a whole new look and feel.

Dare To Dream Step 4: How To

“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you high”
– Oprah Winfrey

Instead of reading about people’s problems and complaints every morning, he now began his day by catching up on what his more positive friends were up to, as well as reading a few valuable tips and thoughts from his Virtual How To Succeed Group.

This simple change to his Facebook and Twitter feeds had a huge impact on the way Donte felt about starting his online business. The advice and inspiration from his Virtual How To Succeed Group gradually opened his mind to what was possible, and helped him to develop a real sense of belief in himself and his plans.

Today I’d like to encourage you to take a look at the input of the people you are currently connected to via Facebook and Twitter, and ask whether their thoughts and comments are helping you to achieve your most important goals in life.

If not, then consider creating your own Virtual How To Succeed Group by following the 4 simple steps outlined above. You can do this for any area of interest you have whether it’s online business, health and fitness, photography etc.

When you surround yourself with the comments of your up-beat friends, and insights from your Virtual How To Succeed Group, you too will develop a positive attitude and a sense of personal belief that will compel you to take action and help you to make your dreams a reality.

And while I’m fairly new to the Facebook and Twitter scene, I think they provide a real opportunity for us to create a community of like-minded people who are taking action and achieving their dreams all around the world.

Wanna know the really craziest thing I’ve ever done with my online biz? I’d probably been online for about a year at that point, and thats when I started making some really bad…..decisions.

Like one time, I used all my money in the bank to Join this amazing biz op they said it would revolutionize the world. [Sounds Familiar?] It promised I’d get paid $100’s of dollars
per day doing just one simple thing it was just TOO good to resist. [Now Looking Back, What A Sucker I Was] lol. 🙂

And if that wasn’t hitting the nail on the head they had an awesome driving point …

I was burning through AT LEAST another $200 per month on my debit card buying leads to “recruit” into my biz opp. [leadless Leads] 🙁

I was an idiot a flat out looney toon!

It’s no surprise that a few months down I was headed down the path of being stupid broke.Yes  I said it “Stupid Broke” I don’t even know if there is a word for my -Balances.
[You Know the Feeling?] 🙁

My relationship with my family & Friends..Destroyed! Bridges weren’t just burned, they were destroyed “BLOWN UP”! KABOOM..

My wife would/ or could not even look me in the eyes. …

She was preparing to leave me and her Family thought that I was just a complete Idiot a cartoon character. I had tapped into my 401k plan and was hooked on making this simple system work.. …. [I was Desperate! Ever Been There?] 🙁

I was to blind to see, that if this was a simple system why am I under-broke thats right I was so low beneath broke my Family started calling me…..Under-Broke….. [I felt totally Humiliated] 🙁

I had ran thru roughly $13,000 dollars and made a profit of $5.34 cents.

When my Family/Friends seen me coming…. “WARNING ALARMS” went off and honestly I thought I even heard Sirens! lol 🙂  They basically bolted their doors turned their.. phones off and just shut me off completely.

I had no money and was on the verge of losing My Lovely wife…I was in an endless nightmare and I felt like I was just existing with no.. purpose…I had lost everything that was dear to me and I had no path at that time to guide me to recovery…[have you ever been there?]

and I blamed no one but myself.

How could I have been such an Idiot a sucker a xxo#%&”? The only thing I had was that darn Job that I was working so hard to leave, They Told Me .. I wouldn’t make it ….”on-line” I remembered!! [ever had that happen to you?]

I started believing the nay sayers and I slowly …begin to lose Faith In My Vision My Desires My Dreams ….and started believing this online stuff just isn’t for me..
and as a result…Guess what?

……..I decided to Just work Harder and Harder… for the Company I worked for.. helping them………….grow their business……..and making their Dreams come true, like the
rest of the 92% People In The World……

I Flat Out Conformed… and slowly 1 by 1 put my Dreams My Desires back on my shelves of “Forgotten Dreams”….and just “Un Dreamed Them Back Away” [can you feel the pain? Are You or have You ever been there] 🙁

now that I think back my “Thinkin” was “Stinkin”…. I was in so much debt, I would work 12 + hrs per day…. “Go Hard Or Go Home”……that was my motto to myself…..

I worked so many hrs that I didn’t have time to enjoy anything. My wife hadn’t left
yet…….. …. I guess she figured since the “IDIOT” wasn’t at home she didn’t have to look in my face..

……that is what I was thinking anyway. however after a few months passed working “INSANE OVERTIME” and helping my Company Build Their Dreams..even quicker lol….

Now what Happened Next Almost Pushed My Sanity Over The Edge..
The Decision I was now faced with…… Was Life Or Death……..

Later I will share with you.

Using Skype for Video Chat on Your Android/iOS Device

Skype is the quintessential video and voice chatting app–and you can use it on both Android and iOS. While the Android version of Skype does support video calling, it’s not available on all devices.

Still, Skype is an excellent tool for making free or cheap phone calls–not only can you call from one Skype account to another for free, but you can make domestic and international calls at extremely low rates using your device’s data plan or Wi-Fi connection.

Step 1: Install Skype

Skype is a free app for both Android and iOS devices. You can find the Skype iOS app in the App Store, while the Skype Android app is in the Android Market.

Supported Android devices include: Samsung’s Nexus S, Galaxy S, Droid Charge, Tab 7; HTC’s Desire, Incredible S, Evo 4G, ThunderBolt, Flyer; Sony Ericsson’s Xperia PLAY; LG’s Revolution and Optimus Black; and Motorola’s Droid 3, Atrix, Xoom, and Photon. For a full list of supported devices, go to Skype for Android’s Android Market page (click the “More” button in the Overview section to reveal the list). Skype requires Android 2.1 or higher.

Supported iOS devices include: iPhone (3G, 3GS, and 4), iPod Touch (3rdand 4th generations), and iPad (1 and 2). Skype requires iOS 4.0 or later. If you have an iPod Touch 3rd generation or an iPhone 3G, you will be able to receive only video.

If you have an Android device, you may see two versions of Skype–one called “Skype for Android,” and one called “Skype Mobile for Verizon.”* If you have a Verizon Android device, you may download the Skype Mobile for Verizon app (otherwise, download the Skype for Android app). Skype Mobile for Verizon does not allow you to place domestic calls, but you can still place international calls over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Skype for Android, on the other hand, lets you place domestic and international calls over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection.

*For this article, I used Skype for Android, not the Verizon version. When I tested Skype for Android on a Droid X running Android 2.1, there was no video chat option.

Step 2: Set up Skype

Android: Once Skype for Android is installed, tap on the app to open it. You will be prompted to sign into your Skype account (or, if you don’t have a Skype account, to sign up for one), using your Skype username and password.

You will then be prompted to sync your Skype contacts with your phonebook contacts. You can choose to sync all contacts, add phonebook contacts to your Skype list, or sync no contacts. If you add phonebook contacts to your Skype list, you’ll be able to easily call your phonebook contacts directly from the Skype app.

The Transition From Employee to Online Business Owner

Sad man working with his notebook in his living room

The most challenging component of owning your own business is to make the transition from employee to owner. When you work for a corporation you are one piece of a larger organization, and though your role is crucial to the operation, at the end of the day the success or failure of the business does not depend solely on you. However, when you are managing an online business you are the one in charge. If your revenue doesn’t increase, your time is managed poorly and you aren’t retaining customers, the blame will be laid squarely on yourself.

It’s a tough job to be an online business owner, but when times get tough you have to remember why you broke off on your own in the first place. You likely left the corporate world behind so you could set your own work hours, spend more time with your family, work from anywhere in the world and be your own boss. If it was an easy transition to make, everyone would start and grow their own online business.

If you want to make the transition from employee to online business owner as simple as possible, then you have to check out these three tips to help you navigate your new online business landscape and stay motivated at the same time.

#1: Set a Mission Statement for Your Business

If you want to make your online business a success you need to create a mission statement early on. Your mission statement should describe the goals of your business, the culture and its core values. Your mission statement should be so important to you that you carry it with you wherever you go. You should also try to commit it to memory if possible. Having a strong mission statement will help you stay on track with your business goals.

#2: Get Into a Routine

Corporate jobs are well known for being routine-oriented. You don’t need to have everything laid out in minute-by-minute fashion, but you should create a general routine that works for you. If you know you are the most productive in the morning, then create a routine that forces you to do your most creative work in the morning. If email and social media is often a distraction, set up some times during the day for monitoring social media activity. Once you setup your routine you must realize that it might change over time. Just make sure your routine helps you get the most out of every day.

#3: Setup a Personal Rewards Program

All human beings are enticed by incentives, and that includes you. The best way to stay on track with your goals and make an easy transition from employee to owner is to create a rewards/incentive program for yourself. Maybe you have a specific sales goal you want to hit within your first 3 months of business. If that’s the case, decide what reward you will earn if you meet or surpass your goal. Your incentives should be smaller for short-term goals and larger for bigger goals. The idea here is to reward yourself for the small victories as you walk the path of an online entrepreneur.
